Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled
How do you decide between chocolate chip cookies and brownies? I feel like this might be the ultimate life question if we are all honest with ourselves. Both delicious confections bring their own unique traits to the dessert game. Brownies give us that fudgy full chocolate flavor, while cookies give us that sweet dough with hints of chocolate morsels (Let’s be honest, this is best eaten raw. Who was the last person you knew that died from Salmonella?)
The best way to solve this life dilemma is with a brookie! The perfect mix of rich chocolate brownies, and chocolate chip cookies.
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 cup vegetable oil
- 4 eggs
- 6 tablespoons cocoa
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 1/2 cups self-rising flour
Mix everything except the flour until well blended. Then slowly stir in flour.
I am going to be a little Ina Garten here and say, use the good chocolate chips. I like to use Ghirardelli and I like the highest percentage of cocoa that I can find.
- 1 1/2 cups salted butter, softened
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 2/3 cup brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 egg yolk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 bag Grand Ghirardelli chocolate chips
Cream butter and sugars together. Slowly beat in egg and egg yolk. Sift flour and baking soda together. Then slowly mix dry ingredients into the butter mixture. Once combined, add chocolate chips to batter.
Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Once both mixes are are ready, pour brownie batter into a greased 13×9 pan. Then drops spoonfuls of cookie dough onto the batter. Place in oven and bake for 25-30 mins. The the center should just be set. I like mine a gooey!
These treats made a great addition to our dessert tray for small group on Sunday. We mixed them in with some chocolate chips cookies from the leftover dough and a few special treats that my mom brought down for Mollie’s birthday. I promise if you are a chocoholic, you can never go wrong with a brookie!
Until next time,
